2010
In 2010, the main goal is to “Develop the best Ideas” from my sketches, drawings, and doodles into real products. Another desired goal is to turn my Art Projects into reality. |
2009
In 2009, the biggest product improvement was the change to SILVER LINING for many of the bags. Customers liked the change.
Their comments sounded like this: |
-“I am so tired of every bag with a Black interior.”
-“It’s strong; my keys won’t rip this lining.”
-“This bag is not heavy. It’s so light to carry.”
-“Look, (said to a friend) it’s not Black inside.”
| And -“Finally, I will be able to find things in my purse.”
| |
Working with the SILVER LINING is extremely efficient. It is cost effective for production because is does not tear or rip and it can be glued into place before the final assembly of all parts. It is thin and makes sewing the layers of leather a lot easier. It is also lightweight.
A surprise benefit for everyone is that all of these products with the new
SILVER LINING have lost weight in the last year. |
| Two bags were introduced in 2009. The “Traveller II” was based on an old pattern for a large tote. So many changes and improvements were made that it was given the new name. Only the size, handles, and the rear pocket zipper remained the same. |
| Turned edges, the new lining, and larger sized patterns for each of the 2 “LOOP” styles made them popular small bags. Brighter colour combinations
were introduced for them and sold well.

2008; Bags for Television Documentary
The Historic Expedition of 1792-93 from northern Alberta to the coast of British Columbia by Alexander Mackenzie was re-traced in 2008. The Quebec TV network TVQ and Productions Nor’Quest II took a film crew and 12 new Voyageurs on a100 day excursion to show the difficulty of the original trek through that part of Canada. |
| Arrowsmith Leather designed and produced 12 old style bags for each Voyageur member of the crew. The voyageurs did travel in a large birch bark canoe and tried to recreate the experience of the original 1792 team as much as possible. This included cooking and wearing clothing and accessories similar to the 1792 styles. |
| The show was broadcast on TVQ (Quebec) as 9 one hour episodes from February to April of 2009. |
